Product Description
Awaji Island's Incense Master: Agarwood Incense. Agarwood Incense, Agarwood Sweet Tea Incense, 16g, Crafted by Awaji Baikondo
This sweet tea incense is made with carefully selected sweet tea, which is poured over the Buddha to celebrate the birth of Buddha on April 8th.
Incense as an offering, rather than a luxury item, is usually presented to the Buddha in a beautiful state, accompanied by an offering of his favorite food, and then the offering is received.
For occasions such as Obon, when ancestors who have transformed from their original selves into Buddhas return, beautifully dressed (performing a kagura-like dance of hospitality) and presented as a feast to the Buddha during Obon, it is said that the Buddha's wish for a feast will be granted, and the deceased and their family will receive the Buddha's blessing and bring peace to the world.
The famous and beloved sweet tea incense is said to grant the Buddha's wish for a feast, as it opens the eyes of attention, consideration, and care, building a mountain of moral tradition, maintaining order by respecting superiors, leading to self-forgetfulness and altruism, and providing merit for surviving descendants to pass on good deeds to their ancestors. In treating ancestors who return as Buddhas, extending the measure of compassion and offering the Buddha's favorite sweet tea incense at the Obon festival is a grand gesture of hospitality, welcoming guests with dignity and sincerity.
Offering a feast with attention, consideration, and care brings the greatest merit and refines and elevates one's character. It will grant the Buddha's wish for a feast.
Founded over 100 years ago, Awaji Umekundo Manufacturing continues to craft incense using natural ingredients, cherishing its long-standing traditional methods.
The crowded Ginza and Kyoto areas are like markets selling incense. Japan's largest incense production area, accounting for 70% of the nation's total, is located on the west coast of Awaji Island.
Ei, one of Japan's Top 100 Fragrant Landscapes, is home to a unique collection of incense shops, the only one of its kind in Japan. Located on Prefectural Route 31, facing west and taking advantage of the prevailing westerly winds, this is the perfect location for crafting high-quality incense. We carefully craft and deliver our incense to you.
Incense for gifts, incense gifts, and presents: Express your feelings to loved ones with the exquisite fragrance of Awaji Umekundo's incense.
